Drake, one of the top artists in the world over the last decade, has shown that he’s not above asking for a musical favor, particularly when it’s for a worthy individual.

During Drake’s It’s All a Blur Tour stop in Montreal, Canada, on Saturday (July 15), he surprised the crowd once more with a surprise guest. Just like the previous night, he brought out J. Cole to the show.

During a short intermission, Drake took the opportunity to discuss J. Cole’s upcoming album and engaged the entire crowd by requesting their support to secure a feature on Cole’s highly anticipated project.

“Maybe I could get on the album?” Drake asked eagerly, which prompted J. Cole to let out an empathetic: “N-gga!”

“Can I get on the album? I’ma ask in front of Montreal. ‘J. Cole, can we get on your album?’” Drake continued as the audience applied more pressure on the Dreamville founder.

Cole replied: “Say less, goddammit!”

Drake, after securing his place on Cole’s album, asked the audience to show love to his longtime friend and collaborator before leaving the stage.

“Montreal, I want you to understand something,” he said. “It takes somebody that really not only loves the art of this shit, but really loves all of you to get on a plane, come here for two nights and represent for Montreal.

“So make some muthafucking noise for my brother, all the way from the ‘Ville, he goes by the name of Jermaine Cole. I need you to get as loud as you can!”

Drake and J. Cole, who rose to fame around the same time in the late 2000s/early 2010s, have collaborated on tracks such as “In the Morning” (2010) and “Jodeci Freestyle” (2013).

During their joint performance at Drake’s first Montreal show on Friday night (July 14), Drake honored J. Cole by declaring him one of the greatest in hip-hop.

“[He’s] one of the greatest rappers to ever touch a microphone,” Drake told the crowd while introducing Cole “I hope you enjoy yourself.”
