G Herbo Launches Swervin’ Through Stress Mental Health Organization

G Herbo has launched non-profit Swevin’ Through Stress mental health organization designed to create a safe space for Black people to talk about mental health.

According to G Herbo, who recently spoke with Billboard, mental health does not receive the attention it deserves in communities of color. The Humble Beast rapper wants to raise mental health awareness and provide assistance for those in need through Swervin’ Through Stress.

“Our community doesn’t talk about mental health enough,” he said. “With Swervin’ Through Stress, I really wanted to create a space where it’s OK for us to talk about what we’re going through.”

He added: “A lot of us can relate to each other’s struggles.”

Herbo’s nonprofit organization and Social Works are teaming up to conduct a Black Joy Ride this coming Saturday, May 20. The joy ride will take place in Chicago and will begin and conclude at the Harold Washington Cultural Center.

The public is welcome to attend the free event. Visitors will be able to explore local wellness brands and  visit yoga pop-up installations.

The next day, on Sunday, May 21, Swervin’ Through Stress will assist women who have experienced gun violence in collaboration with Free Root Operations’ Bloom Program. Spa visits, breathing clinics, and other wellness activities are also on the schedule.

On Wednesday, May 17, Herbo posted news on Instagram about the organization and his most recent Billboard interview.
