J. Cole Nears Historic 1st Diamond Plaque with Nearly 30 New Certifications in a Single Day

J. Cole is on the brink of earning his first diamond plaque, with almost 30 new gold and platinum certifications awarded in just one day as the rapper continues to make an impressive mark.

On Tuesday, November 21, the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) granted J. Cole a total of 27 new certifications for his catalog. Notably, “Middle Child” has achieved a remarkable 9x platinum status, indicating sales of at least nine million units in the United States.

This achievement places the song, initially released in 2019 and featured on the Dreamville compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III, merely one million units shy of attaining the prestigious diamond status.

Only 120 songs in history have been certified diamond, a league that includes Eminem’s tracks such as “Not Afraid,” “Lose Yourself,” and “Love the Way You Lie.”

Drake has also garnered several diamond-selling singles, including “God’s Plan,” “Hotline Bling,” and “One Dance.” Moreover, his contributions to Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode” and Future’s “Life is Good” have also reached the milestone of 10 million sales.

Several other prominent Hip Hop artists who have achieved this distinction include JAY-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Wiz Khalifa, and Kid Cudi.

J. Cole’s manager, Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad, celebrated the rapper’s new RIAA plaques with a straightforward post on X (formerly Twitter) that read: “Certified.”

In his post, J. Cole’s manager, Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad, also disclosed that “2014 Forest Hills Drive” has achieved 5x platinum status, “Born Sinner” is 3x platinum, “4 Your Eyez Only” has reached double platinum, while both “KOD” and “The Off-Season” have earned platinum certifications.

Numerous of J. Cole’s songs received updated sales status: “Neighbors” achieved a 4x platinum certification, “Deja Vu” reached 3x platinum, while both “Kevin’s Heart” and “KOD” also attained 3x platinum certifications.

Earlier this year, J. Cole secured his first-ever No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with his Drake collaboration, “First Person Shooter.”

The song was J. Cole’s first time reaching the top spot on the chart, while for Drake, it was his 13th No. 1 in seven years, starting with his first in 2016 with “One Dance.”
