DJ Drama said that Meek Mill’s ten-year-old smash “Dreams & Nightmares” has been replaced by Lil Uzi Vert’s smash track “Just Wanna Rock” as the anthem of Philadelphia. Lil Uzi Vert has responded to this statement.

Uzi admitted to The Shade Room that they don’t really agree with their Generation Now boss while they were in attendance at the 2023 Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 5), where they performed as part of the Hip Hop 50 homage.

“I don’t think so,” Uzi said. “That song like been around for a very long time, and that song is still hitting exactly the same way. I’m just gonna have to see, you know, in a couple of years or a decade or whatever.

“[Meek’s] a big homie from Philly, and that’s like one of my big homies,” Uzi added. “So I just like, feed off the energy that he gives actually to be able to even produce or put out that type of music. So like, hopefully. Like shit, hopefully he would hope that for me too. Not yet, though – it’s too early to tell.”

After only a few hours, Meek was the first to reply to Drama’s claims on Twitter.

“Intro been lighting the world for 10 years!” he wrote. “Like shaking rooms for years!”

Meek’s “Dreams and Nightmares” was the Eagles’ official song during their 2018 Super Bowl LII championship run, and NBC Sports Philadelphia dubbed it “the best Philly sports anthem ever.”

Due to its climax-building momentum, “Dreams and Nightmares,” one of Meek’s most iconic tracks, has remained a fan favorite since its release in 2012.

The highest place “Just Wanna Rock” has achieved since its debut in October 2022 is No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Currently certified platinum, the song is Uzi’s third most successful single as a lead artist, behind “Futsal Shuffle 2020” (currently at No. 5) and “XO Tour Llif3” (No. 7).
