Offset has revealed he and his fellow Migos members Quavo and TakeOff aren’t biologically related, despite fans believing so since the group’s inception.

Offset sat down for an in-depth cover story for Variety that was published on Wednesday (May 24), due to his current legal dispute with Quality Control, the Atlanta rhymer didn’t talk much about Migos however, his brief statement about his lack of biological relation to the trio has  left fans’ heads spinning.

“He was classmates with Quavo — the third member of Migos — and began hanging out with him and TakeOff when Offset was in the sixth grade,” the article reads. “While Quavo was TakeOff’s uncle, the two were just three years apart in age, and although Offset is often referred to as Quavo’s cousin, they are actually not biologically related.”

In response, one fan tweeted: “so, damn near a decade of folks writing about migos all being family was … not true? at least the offset/quavo cousin aspect mind you — and nobody corrected it?” To which someone replied with: “I swear I used to use that as concrete evidence for everything from their chemistry and why they lasted so long.”

In the interview, he also revealed that Cardi B, Future, the late TakeOff, Latto, Travis Scott, and Chlo Bailey would all feature on his next solo album.

Offset previewed couple of songs off the record to the reporter, and asked “You wanna hear my last song with TakeOff?”

The story claims that Set seemed happy when he listened to the final song they recorded together before TakeOff died in Houston last year and suggests this new album will be a full-fledged effort to break out from his Migos shadow.

“This is me going full-fledged into my solo career,” he said. “The objective is to do it fully and smash shit and fuck the game up as a solo artist. I’m coming through, bustin’ through the door. It’s all set, my next chapter. It’s my time.”

Offset revealed that his album would be released this summer through Universal’s Capitol Music Group, with a tour on the horizon, though he didn’t provide a specific release date.
