Tory Lanez‘s lawyer, Jose Baez, promised to file a motion to have the rapper released on bail shortly after he was sentenced to 10 years in jail for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
However, almost three weeks have passed since Lanez’s sentencing, and Baez, famous for his defense of Casey Anthony, has not yet submitted the motion.
Furthermore, Meghann Cuniff, who has been closely following the case, mentioned on her Twitter that Baez was sharing Instagram stories from Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy located near Milan.
“2+ weeks since Tory Lanez’s lawyer Jose Baez said he’d file a motion to bail Lanez out of jail as he appeals his convictions and 10-year prison sentence,” she wrote on Friday (August 25). “No motion has been filed, and I’m not sure how much of a priority it is for Baez: He’s posting Instagram stories from Italy.”
Tory Lanez was handed a 10-year sentence in the case involving the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion earlier this week. However, he is set to have almost a year deducted from the sentence due to time already served.
As per Meghann Cuniff, it’s been reported that Tory Lanez will have a total of 305 days deducted from his sentence.
“Lanez will be credited for 231 days he’s already spent in jail, and he gets 15% credit of 34 days,” she wrote in a tweet on Wednesday (August 9). “Herriford also is crediting his 40 days of house arrest, for a total of 305 days. He’ll request bail pending appeal, which will be heard Aug. 15. (Extremely unlikely to be granted.)”
In another tweet, Cuniff reported that Deputy D.A. Kathy Ta said of Megan Thee Stallion: “I cannot emphasize enough the power that it must’ve taken someone with that level of trauma that she’s undergone and the willingness to come forward after being vilified online.”
