XXXTENTACION‘s alleged killer was captured blowing a kiss and smiling in court following his guilty verdict earlier this week.
Almost five years after the rapper’s passing, the murder trial came to a conclusion on Monday (March 20), with three men being convicted guilty of first-degree murder and armed robbery.
In court footage released by Law&Crime Network, 28-year-old Michael Boatwright, who is suspected of firing the fatal rounds at the rapper, was seen smiling and conversing with his attorney only seconds after being found guilty.
He then appeared to be aiming a kiss towards the camera, although it’s not clear who it was aimed it.
According to The New York Times, a Broward County grand jury determined that the three assailants killed XXXTENTACION outside a Florida motorsports shop in June 2018.
Boatwright and 24-year-old Trayvon Newsome were the shooters, according to the prosecution, with Boatwright eventually firing the fatal rounds. Dedrick Williams, 26, who was also the getaway driver, was identified as the “mastermind” of the crime.
Although the prosecution did not seek the death penalty, all three individuals are currently facing life sentences.
On June 18, 2018, an armed robbery outside of Riva Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, Florida, resulted in the shooting and death of XXXTENTACION. X had just extracted $50,000 from a Louis Vuitton bag when the assailants escaped with it.
In August 2022, Robert Allen, a fourth suspect in the murder, agreed to plead guilty to second-degree murder charges. In an effort to get his sentence reduced, he testified against his friends on the witness stand during the trial.
