Young Thug has been in a state of uncertainty since his arrest in May 2022, but the YSL RICO case is now ready to progress as the jury selection has concluded after a month.

On Monday (October 30), Young Thug’s attorney informed 11Alive that a Fulton County judge will start seating the jury this week. In response to the defendant’s request for a speedy trial, the proceedings are scheduled to begin on Wednesday (November 1).

The legal team representing Thug has been trying to get him released on bond because of his declining health after spending one and a half years in pretrial detention. During a June hearing, his attorney argued that his lifestyle had caused physical harm, but the request was denied.

Currently, only seven out of the initial 28 people indicted will be in court, as some accepted deals, while others had their charges dropped.

Earlier this month, Thug’s attorney revealed a high-profile witness list featuring some of the most prominent figures in the world of Hip Hop.

According to court documents, the index filed by Brian Steel in mid-October includes names like T.I. (real name Clifford Harris), Killer Mike (Michael Render), and music business executive Lyor Cohen.

Thugga’s list of witnesses also features experts like investigator Jimmy Martin, sheriff’s deputy Jimmy Kennedy, attorney Jacoby Hudson, and cell phone expert Detective Scott Demeester.

In total, there are 45 witnesses on Thugga’s list, along with “any and all co-Defendants in the above-referenced Indictment,” and “any and all witnesses named in the State’s Witness List, as well as any and all witnesses named in the co-Defendants’ Witness List.”

The leader of the Young Slime Life movement has also requested the exclusion of the prosecution’s witness list.
